DevOps Engineer

Role Profile

The DevOps Engineer is key to us achieving our technical goals in 2019. They will be responsible for building our CI/CD pipeline with help from our Platform and Development teams. This is a great opportunity to get stuck in and mould how U develops our product in the years to come.

Working hours: 37.5 hrs

Salary: £35,000–£50,000 depending on experience

About the role

U is seeking a DevOps Engineer with experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for products hosted within AWS. We use a mix of EC2 instances, Kubernetes and AWS Lambda running PHP and Go. The DevOps Engineer will help us automate deployment of these services along with standardising how they are built as we move towards a micro-serviced self-healing architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Work with platform engineers to build and deploy services to AWS
  • Maintain high availability for production systems on AWS
  • Support and scale our CI/CD Pipeline
  • Support and scale our metrics/logging/alerting stack

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Expertise building distributed applications in AWS
  • Expertise in Unix Operating systems
  • Expertise building pipelines with Jenkins
  • Expertise using source control for code management (Git, Perforce, SVN etc.)

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Cloudformation and/or Terraform
  • Experience with configuration management solutions (Salt, Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience with Git
  • Experience with Python and BashExperience with SQL
  • Experience with PHP and/or Go
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with Monitoring and Alerting systems
